Flag Retirement Ceremony at Andrew Johnson National Cemetery

June 07 - 14, 2021
Flag Retirement Ceremony at Andrew Johnson National Cemetery

Special Event June 14

In celebration of National Flag Day, staff at Andrew Johnson National Historic Site extend a cordial invitation to the public to attend our free flag retirement event on Monday, June 14, 2021, at 6:00 p.m. Andrew Johnson National Cemetery, located at 121 Monument Avenue, Greeneville, will be open until 8 pm for this special event.

After serving as a beacon of our cemetery, and a proud symbol of our nation, the time has come to replace the American flag at the cemetery. Therefore, our Flag Day celebration will center on a retirement ceremony for the current colors. Simply put, this is an opportunity for visitors to learn how our national colors should be “retired” with honor. The ceremony will commemorate the men and women resting here. Come out and show your support!

The Andrew Johnson National Historic Site encourages visitors of all ages, especially Scouts and other youth organizations from the community to attend this special program. For more information, please contact the Andrew Johnson National Historic Site Visitor Center at (423) 638-3551.

Andrew Johnson National Cemetery is administered by the Andrew Johnson National Historic Site, which is one of the 423 parks in the National Park System. To learn more about parks and the National Park Service programs in America’s communities visit www.nps.gov.
