Main Street District Events & Programs

Main Street: Greeneville hosts several fun events to promote and highlight the wonders of our amazing Downtown.  We also partner with other organizations such as the Town of Greeneville and the Partnership to bring our community together to celebrate our unique heritage and diverse culture.  We hope you will join us, either as a vendor or a guest.

Lyrics on the Lawn

Host:  Main Street: Greeneville

Free outdoor concert held on the lawn of the Dickson-Williams Mansion every Thursday in July.  Open mic at 6:00, bands start at 7:00.  Local food trucks.  Bring your own chair.

Music Mashup

Host:  Main Street: Greeneville

Held at the Capitol Theatre on Main Street each March, this battle of the bands includes local bands competing for the title of best of the best.  The top two bands play at one of the Lyrics on the Lawn events.

Halloween Happenings

Host:  Main Street: Greeneville

Every Halloween Downtown gets spooky with a costume contest, chalk drawings, music and, of course, candy!  Free event for kids of all ages.

Be sure to walk Downtown and enjoy our

restaurants and boutiques. 

Christmas in Downtown

Host:  Main Street: Greeneville

Start the holiday season off with the lighting of our magnificent Christmas tree, pictures with Santa, carolers, live music, hay rides, holiday decorations, shopping and food at our many eateries.

Barrel & Leaf Spirits Raffle

Host:  Main Street: Greeneville

This is Main Street: Greeneville's major fundraiser where we raffle off high end bottles of spirits.  All proceeds help us continue our mission of promoting our Downtown.

Scarecrow Contest

Host:  Main Street: Greeneville

Enter the annual Scarecrow Contest and create your "scene" along Main Street.  Be creative and win bragging rights!  Visitors and guests should make sure they take the time for a walk Downtown to enjoy this festive and fun event which is all month long in October.

Iris Festival

Host:  Greene County Partnership

Start the spring off by coming to the Iris Festival.  This huge two day event has food trucks, artists, live music, and lots of Irises to purchase and grow yourself.  Free to attend.

Midnight on Main

Host:  Town of Greeneville

Join us every December 31 for an all-ages New Year's Eve street party that occurs on two blocks centered at Main and Depot Streets from

8:00 PM-Midnight.

Christmas Parade

Host:  The Exchange Club & Greene Co. Partnership

Celebrate small town USA with a holiday themed parade that begins at 2:00 PM thru the heart of Downtown Greeneville.

American Downtown

Host:  Town of Greeneville

Celebrate our Nation's birthday in style at the American Downtown event at the picturesque Big Spring in Bicentennial Park.  Beginning at 4 PM there are concerts, food trucks, hot dog eating contest, a nighttime parade and fireworks!  Free

Depot St Farmers Market

Host:  Depot Street Farmers Market

Every Saturday from May through October you can purchase fresh and locally farmed produce as well as items made by local artists.  Live music, food trucks, breads, jams, crafts.  Every Saturday from 8:00 AM-Noon at the Greene County Partnership, 115 Academy St, Downtown Greeneville

Downtown BrewFest

Host:  Rural Resources

BrewFest is a family friendly festival celebrating local food and local craft beers, proceeds supporting The Farm and Food Teen Training Program of Rural Resources. Tickets include beer tasting, live music, and games! Want to join in the fun but not drink? Entry is FREE!

Sundown on Depot

Host:  Sundown on Depot

This car show is open to street rods, customs, classics, muscle cars, trucks, low riders, custom bikes and more.  All proceeds benefit a local charity.  Vehicles must preregister but visitors attend for free.  In conjunction with Iris Festival.

Presidential Eggstravaganza

Host: Andrew Johnson National Historic Site

Children ages 5-12 will decorate a wooden egg to be used in an egg roll and spoon relay, then have fun with an egg hunt.  Park rangers will talk about Easter celebrations during President Johnson's time.  Dress for weather, bring your own basket.  Free.
