Walking Tours
The town of Greeneville, Tennessee has a rich history. Not only is it a presidential town as the home of Andrew Johnson, the 17th President of the United States, but it was once the capitol site of the Lost State of Franklin, the first free state created that was not under the control of King George.

We have two walking tours for you to enjoy, "A Walk With A President" and the Dickson Williams Mansion, a beautiful home built in 1821.

Normal tours are limited to 12 people. If you have more in your group you must contact us at 423-639-7102 a minimum of 24 business hours in advance for availability.

A Walk With A President
Monday-Saturday, April -October
Starts at 9:30 AM and is approximately 90 minutes
Meet in the lobby of the General Morgan Inn

This tour takes you throughout the Downtown area on the same path that President Andrew Johnson took when he returned home from the White
House in 1869.
​
You will tour 36 different locations including President Andrew Johnson's early home, his taylor shop, the Old Harmony Graveyard, Town Hall, the State of Franklin Capitol, Courthouse Square, the Old Greene County Gaol (stone jail) and some amazing architectural treasures that are churches and historic homes.
Dickson Williams Mansion Tour
Daily tours, January & February based on availability
Starts at 1:00 PM and is approximately 90 minutes

This mansion was built by a wealthy Irish merchant in 1815 for his daughter, Elizabeth Douglas Dickson, who would eventually marry
Dr. Alexander Williams in 1823. The house took 6 years to built
and is one of the most magnificent examples of mid nineteenth
century living.
