Christmas Market Dec 5th — 7thDecember 03, 2014
The Olde Greene Christmas Market is coming to downtown Greeneville this weekend.
The open-air market at the corner of South Main and McKee Streets is a project of the Nathanael Greene Museum and will be open Friday from 12N-9PM, Saturday 10AM-6PM, and Sunday 1PM-4PM. There is no admission charge.
Over a dozen vendors will be on hand with Christmas gift ideas, crafts, and food. The Nathanael Greene Museum will be selling Christmas greenery including birch twigs, galax leaves and ilex berry branches. Additional food vendors include Creamy Cup and Bryan Mounts’ funnel cakes.
Luminaries will line the path to the Babb Homestead cabin, and Kris Kringle will be appearing Saturday morning from 10AM-12N to hear the children's wish lists. Parents are invited to bring their cameras or smartphones to capture the special moment. The historic Babb home, which dates back to the 1780s, will also feature period decorations.
Live and recorded Christmas music will include carolers and a Saturday performance by the Greeneville High School Advanced Chorus. On Sunday, the Greeneville Christmas Parade will pass directly in front of the Olde Greene Christmas Market.
As an added activity for children ages 6-11, the Nathanael Greene Museum is holding a Christmas decoration workshop with the Greeneville Youth Builders. Children will work on tree ornaments from 10AM-11AM Saturday at the Museum, where their artwork will adorn the Museum's tree. Advance registration is required at 423-636-1558.
