Main Street: Greeneville Announces Commercial Façade Improvement Grants
Greeneville – Main Street Greeneville was recently approved $100,000 in Commercial Façade Improvement Grants derived from Tennessee’s federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds that will used to improve commercial buildings in the Main Street District within downtown Greeneville as part of the revitalization program in place through the Tennessee Main Street program. Grants will be used for improvements including new awnings, painting, building repair and other upgrades.
“Renovations like these in our downtown commercial district will help to put us back on track for a more vibrant downtown and, in turn, facilitate future economic development opportunities where we are ready for new investment,” said Kathy Knight, Main Street Greeneville President. “Helping us continue our mission to establish partnerships between public and private sectors dedicated to the revitalization of the Main Street District and the preservation of our historic structures.”
The 2016 Commercial Façade Improvement grantees are:
• Morgan Inn Corporation — $30,144.00
• Capitol Theatre of Greeneville — $49,261.00
• David “Mickey” Ellis, CPA. — $12,595.00
There were ten applications submitted for consideration.
All three grantees are required to provide a minimum of a 25 percent match for the funds. Main Street: Greeneville assisted by First Tennessee Development District will administer the façade improvement program.
