The 27th annual ‘Taste of Greeneville’ will be held on Tuesday, May 3, beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the General Morgan Inn located at 111 North Main Street. Weather permitting, the event will be held on the terrace overlooking beautiful historic downtown. In the event of inclement weather it will be held in the ballroom of the hotel.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the programs of two local non-profit organizations the GFWC Greeneville Woman’s Club and Main Street: Greeneville, co-hosts of the event. The event is sponsored in part by the General Morgan Inn.

Defending Their Title

Among the twenty-one area restaurants, chefs and food professionals offering attendees “tastings” of food, drinks or desserts this year is one of last year’s champs. Back to defend their title of, “Best Savory Food” for the third year in a row will be Top Choice BBQ. The friendly competition will continue this year when once again the attendees will be asked to vote for their favorites in the categories of Best Savory Food, Best Sweet Food, Best Beverage and Best Display. Will the favorite be a former champ or one of the several new first time entries to the event? Attend and cast your ballot.

The 2016 food vendors include: Brumley’s at the General Morgan Inn, Casa Nostra, Coke, Creamy Cup, Dairy Queen, Davy Crockett Travel Center, The Farmer’s Daughter, FATZ Café, Food City #663, Gathering Place Café, Gondolier, Lost Mountain Catering, Mt. View Bulk Foods, Old Stage Restaurant, Pals of Greeneville, Premium Waters, Rocky’s Pizza, Salsa’s, TCBY, Top Choice BBQ, and Zaxby’s of Greeneville. Jann Mirkov, Main Street: Greeneville Executive Director states “We are so pleased to have all these professionals participating in this year’s event. It is a great way for the vendor to connect and introduce their product to the public. Several of them will be offering coupons that only those attending will have access to.”

27 Years and Going Strong

Ann Van Buskirk, chairman of the GFWC Greeneville Woman’s Club International Outreach Committee and one of the event’s co-hosts, said “This idea started many years ago on such a small scale and look where it is today. We along with Main Street: Greeneville couldn’t be more proud of how each year this event is so well received in our community. We hear all the time how much people look forward to the annual Taste of Greeneville. It is a great way to sample an array of food from our area chefs all under one roof or terrace as the case may be. We look forward to a sell out crowd.”
