Main Street Greeneville’s Fourth Concert Set for Thursday July 23rd

Lyrics on the Lawn 2015 Summer Concert Series continues Thursday, July 23 at 7:00 pm. The FREE concert will be held on the lawn of the Dickson-Williams Mansion in the heart of downtown Greeneville, Tennessee. The concerts take place each Thursday evening in July. The opening act will begin at 7 with intermission scheduled for 7:45 and the headliner takes the stage at 8. Emcee for the series will be Woody J. In the event of inclement weather the concerts will be held inside at The Capitol Theatre of Greeneville which is located on South Main Street. Check website and Facebook for updates.

The Scott Family

The Scott Family started out singing for The Lord many years ago. Brothers Danny Scott, Willis Scott and Richard Scott began singing shape notes in the barn with their grandfather. Their dad, D.C. Scott, Jr. continued the tradition. The gospel message through song continues into the third generation with the addition of Danny’s three daughters, Carla Scott Combs, Amanda Scott Crum and Molly Scott Derry.

Bakersfield

Kermit Monk is one of the lead singers and also the lead guitar player. Listen to his playing and you will hear influences from a wide range of great guitar players..... Don Rich, Jerry Reed, Brent Mason, James Burton, Roy Nichols, Redd Volkaert, Tony Rice, Doc Watson, Jerry Garcia ....the list goes on and on.

Kermit was raised in a musical family and played his first show, with the band Southbound, at age 14. He has remained active in the local roots music scene, for many years, playing with traditional country bands, outlaw country bands and even a few bluegrass bands. Kermit is also one of the songwriters for the band.

Food Available

On site event food vendors include, Creamy Cup, Myers Pumpkin Patch Kettle Corn and Fudge, Top Dog Hot Dog and Main Street Greeneville. Food service is scheduled to start at 6:00 pm.

Family Friendly Event

Bring your lawn chairs and/or blankets and select your spot to enjoy the evening. The event is Smoke Free. Please note pets are welcome however they must remain within the designated Fido Friendly area. The fifth and final concert for this season of Lyrics on the Lawn will be Thursday, July 30th.
