The Griswold Family Christmas comes to The Capitol this December!

The Capitol Theater of Greeneville, Tennessee continues their monthly Classics At The Capitol film series with a screening of National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation on December 15th at 7:00 PM, tickets for the event will cost $5.00, and will be available at the door and online at www.capitolgreeneville.org. This 1989 movie stars Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo as Clark and Ellen Griswold, the family who tries have to the perfect vacations and holidays, only to find circumstance get in the way.

The third film in the Vacation franchise, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation finds Clark Griswold wanting to bring his entire family together for “an old fashioned family Christmas.” With relatives piling in and the pressure mounting, Christmas Vacation is a film that truly to brings to live the frantic time that the Christmas season can be. Written by John Hughes and directed by Jeremiah Chechik, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation was a massive hit upon it’s release in December 1989. As the years have passed, Christmas Vacation has become one of the most quotable films ever made, and stood to the test of time to be more than just an ’80s box office hit, to a bonna-fide Christmas and Comedy classic.

Christmas Vacation will be introduced by local film writer Andy Ross, “This is one of my family’s favorite movies” Ross says, “we quote this film endlessly year round and I am so excited to be seeing this one on the Capitol’s wonderful big screen. You’ll leave the theater with your heart as full as your...well, if you know the film, you know.” National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation is rated PG-13.

The Capitol Theater of Greeneville, located at 104 South Main Street, is a non-profit performing arts center that features concerts, musicals, stage plays, classic films, and other events. It’s mission is to be a centerpiece of Downtown Greeneville, to attract people from Greene County and beyond inside it’s doors, providing a variety of arts to everyone.
