Settled in 1780, Greeneville, named after a heroic Revolutionary War General, Nathanael Greene, is 17 square miles with a population of 15,500. It has a small town ambiance with all the amenities and quality of life you could ask for.
It is the home of the 17th President of the United States, Andrew Johnson, and the birthplace of the frontiersman, David Crockett.
Greeneville served as the capital of the state of Franklin, which seceded from the state of North Carolina, and was the first state in America that was not under the rule of King George. In 1861, during the Civil War, Greeneville opposed succession from the Union. It is a community rich in history and patriotism.
